I don’t think I understand this pick.
The Tennessee Titans used the third-round pick they added in their trade earlier tonight to select Kevin Winston, S, Penn State. Winston missed most of last season with a knee injury. I really thought that with Jon Robinson gone, the Titans were done picking injured players. I guess I was wrong.
The Titans certainly have a need at safety. The only good player they have at that position is Amani Hooker, and he has missed quite a bit of time with injuries over the last couple of years. So, from a need standpoint, the pick makes sense. I’m just not sure the player makes sense here.
Tomorrow, the Titans will need to find some offensive playmakers in rounds four through seven. After taking Cam Ward with the first overall pick, they went with a defensive player in both rounds two and three. That might not be the best strategy to help your young quarterback succeed.
