Tennessee Titans wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2020 when the Titans signed him to their practice squad. Eventually, he worked his way into a full contract and became part of the team’s active roster on a regular basis. Ahead of the 2024 season, Westbrook-Ikhine signed a one-year contract worth $2 million, and he is set to be an unrestricted free agent in March.
Pro Football Focus recently released a list of one player each NFL team could not afford to lose in free agency. For the Titans, Westbrook-Ikhine was their choice.
Tennessee Titans: WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine
Beyond Calvin Ridley, the Titans are short on credible options in their passing game. Westbrook-Ikhine gave the team some production down the stretch this past season, particularly after DeAndre Hopkins was traded away. They’ll likely look to the free-agent market for better options, but Westbrook-Ikhine could still fit as a WR3.
In 2024, Westbrook-Ikhine earned the nickname Mr. Reliable for his ability to catch passes and extend drives in crucial moments. In 17 games he recorded 32 catches for 497 yards and nine touchdowns. He’s also responsible for 25 first downs, and he didn’t turn the ball over all season.
The Titans need reliable weapons down the field, and Westbrook-Ikhine has proven he can be just that. Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd are both great players, but Westbrook-Ikhine was targeted half as many times as Ridley and scored five more touchdowns.
Westbrook-Ikhine hasn’t had anything handed to him in the NFL, he’s worked for every inch he’s gotten and every penny he’s received. And he’s proven himself year after year, which is why the Titans have kept him around in the first place. Now it’s time to show him that effort was worth it and reward him with a contract that fits his talent.
