Since the start of the offseason, the Tennessee Titans have talked about their desire to acquire a generational talent at the top of the 2025 NFL draft.
Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter may be that player. The dynamic two-way star is widely considered one of the top prospects in the class by the majority of scouting outlets and he could pay major dividends to the team that selects him.
Incredibly, Hunter may be the best athlete in the class, yet his pathway to stardom is a bit of an unknown. In his case, it’s not just where he will continue his career, it’s also what position he will play in the NFL.
NFL analyst Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports recently released his top 5 landing spots for Hunter and has the Titans on his list…but dead last of the five.
5. Tennessee Titans
No. 1 overall pick
The Titans were the worst team in football last year, and have a need at both wide receiver and cornerback. Calvin Ridley is the only legitimate (and healthy) pass catcher under contract. At corner, Chidobe Awuzie could be a cap casualty, while L’Jarius Sneed has some worrisome health issues. Giving Brian Callahan a versatile offensive piece and Dennard Wilson a skilled corner does make sense. Hunter is arguably the most talented football player in the draft, and the Titans desperately need talent.
There is no denying Hunter’s talent and his ability to be a game-changer at multiple positions. He is a rarity with his dual-threat skills.
Hunter’s 2024 was legendary. Not only did he bring home the Heisman Trophy, but he grabbed the Biletnikoff Award as well as Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year after playing 713 offensive snaps and 748 defensive snaps for Colorado.
For the year, he pulled in 96 receptions for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns on offense, while recording 36 total tackles, 11 passes defended, and four interceptions for the defense.
Where Hunter ends up is still a mystery at this point. Truth is, wherever he does land, he could make an impact on both sides of the ball.
