Tough times for the everyone involved with the Titans offense
This week I asked you to grade Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan as a play caller. As you know, this is the first time Callahan has called plays at the NFL level. He was the offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals, but head coach Zac Taylor called the plays. You gave Callahan pretty low marks for the first five games of the season:
Is that fair? Probably. Look, most of the blame for what has gone wrong on offense falls on Will Levis. Just look at this play from last week:
Here is the play that #TitanUp OC Nick Holz is referencing
2nd Play of the Game that most everyone labeled a “bad play call” was, in fact, poor execution
Ridley is the primary read at the top of the screen…

People were so mad that Callahan called back to back passes behind the line of scrimmage. It turns out that he didn’t. No one is doing their job well enough when the quarterback throws for less than 100 yards in an NFL game, but it really feels like more of what is going on here is on Levis than Callahan. We will see what the offense looks like today with Mason Rudolph under center.
As for confidence they are headed in the right direction, it is in the tank as you might expect:
