This was not a move I anticipated
The Tennessee Titans have released cornerback Chidobe Awuzie. This was not a move I saw coming. They signed him to a three-year $36 million dollar contract before last season. This move leaves them with just over $12.5 million in dead money and saves just over $1.725 million against this cap for this season, assuming he is a pre-June 1st cut. This regime really seems like they are determined to undo pretty much all of the deals that Ran Carthon did last offseason. Awuzie played in just eight games last season because of injuries.
The Titans still have some depth at the cornerback position, assuming L’Jarius Sneed can come back healthy with guys like Roger McCreary and Jarvis Brownlee Jr. in that room. However, you can never have enough corners in the NFL. The Titans are now an injury away from really being thin at the position.
You can add corner to the positions that the Titans will be looking to add on the third day in this year’s draft. They are going to need some more picks….
