Throughout his career, Callahan has worked with some prestigious quarterbacks, including Peyton Manning, Matthew Stafford, and Joe Burrow. He has been the Bengals Offensive Coordinator since 2019.
Callahan replaces Mike Vrabel, who coached the Titans for six seasons and finished with a 56-48 record, including the regular season and postseason.
Vrabel was relieved of his duties as head coach on Tuesday, Jan. 9. He has since interviewed for the head coach position with the Los Angeles Chargers and has an upcoming interview for the head coach position with the Atlanta Falcons.
Callahan had also previously interviewed with the Falcons and Carolina Panthers. He had second interviews lined up with both teams before ultimately taking the Titans job.
He was with the Bengals when they upset the Titans, who were the AFC’s top seed, in the playoffs after the 2021 season. Cincinnati went on to reach the Super Bowl that season where they ultimately lost to the Los Angeles Rams.
