A potentially franchise-altering day
Today, this game between the Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans is one of the most significant games in the history of the franchise. The Titans will do no worse than the second overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft with a loss. They can still get the first pick if they lose and the New England Patriots beat the Buffalo Bills. If they win, they could fall to as low as seventh. We already know they would fall to at least third with a win because the Cleveland Browns lost to the Baltimore Ravens yesterday. Adam Schefter reported overnight that Tony Pollard is expected to play today. Pollard needs 83 rushing yards in this game to hit a $200,000 incentive in his contract. He can collect another $250,000 if he scores two rushing touchdowns. If he can hit those numbers and the Titans still lose, I am all for it!
Will Levis will draw the start at quarterback, but Mason Rudolph will also play according to Brian Callahan. Neither of those guys should factor into the Titans’ plans going forward, so it’s really better for the future if neither of them plays well.
I really hate rooting for the Titans to lose, but there is no question that is the more beneficial result today.
