I say this every week, but that doesn’t feel like enough.
This week the 2-7 Tennessee Titans host the 7-2 Minnesota Vikings. The Titans open as a 5.5-point home underdog. I really expected the number to be at least a touchdown. Maybe the Vikings’ most recent performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars kept that number down a little bit. Minnesota won, but they were unable to score a touchdown in the win.
This would be a good week for the Titans to get one or both of Li’Jarius Sneed or Chidobe Awuzie back. Sneed has missed the last four games with a quad injury and hasn’t logged even a limited practice in that time. Awuzie has been on IR since he was injured in the week three loss to the Green Bay Packers. They haven’t opened his practice window yet, but there is a chance they could do that this week. They will need all hands on deck against Justin Jefferson who is second in the league with 831 yards receiving.
The Vikings’ defense is third in the league allowing just 17.4 points per game. That doesn’t bode well for a Titans offense that also averages 17.4 points per game. We did see some improvement from Will Levis last game in that he did not turn the ball over. He still missed some reads and hung on to the ball too long at times. The Titans will need him to build on the small step forward we saw against the Los Angeles Chargers to have a chance in this one.
