Who we should be cheering for to win and lose this week
A lot of Tennessee Titans fans started rooting for the draft order at the beginning of October. That was not the case for me. I thought it was really important for them to win against the New England Patriots and, even more so, the game against the Houston Texans. That was then. Now, I am cheering for them to lose out.
So, if you are solely cheering for the Titans to get the highest pick possible in the 2025 NFL Draft, you start by cheering for them to lose against the Jacksonville Jaguars this week and the Texans next week. Then, you cheer for the teams with two or three wins to win their games. Those teams are the New York Giants, New England Patriots, Jaguars, Cleveland Browns, and Las Vegas Raiders.
Of course, all of those teams are not going to win out, and the Titans probably won’t lose out with the Jaguars being bad and the Texans having already wrapped up their place in the postseason. You should also be cheering for all the teams the Titans have played this season to lose because the first tiebreaker is strength of schedule. The team with the weakest strength of schedule gets the earlier pick.
Who should be cheering for in games that matter to the Titans:
The Patriots to beat the Los Angeles Chargers – Titans would lose a tiebreaker to the Patriots because of the head to head win.
The Denver Broncos to beat the Cincinnati Bengals – helps with SOS.
The New York Jets to beat the Buffalo Bills – Titans lost to both teams but the Jets only have four wins. Let’s get them to five just in case.
The Giants to beat the Indianapolis Colts – Would help on two fronts – get the Giants to three wins and help the Titans strength of schedule.
The Carolina Panthers to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Would get the Panthers to five wins.
The Cleveland Browns to beat the Miami Dolphins – helps with SOS.
The Atlanta Falcons to beat the Washington Commanders – helps with SOS.
The Green Bay Packers play the Minnesota Vikings, but the Titans played both teams so the outcome there doesn’t really matter. Maybe we should root for a tie?
