The Tennessee Titans made their first round of cuts on Tuesday by waiving five players en route to trimming their roster down from 90 to 85 players.
The five victims of the first round of cuts were running back Jordan Wilkins, wide receiver Josh Malone, offensive lineman Carson Green, defensive lineman Haskell Garrett and defensive back Deante Burton.
In addition, the team claimed cornerback Lonnie Johnson Jr. off waivers and waived defensive back Elijah Benton to make room. Tennessee also struck a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders for safety Tyree Gillespie.
After Tuesday, there will be two more rounds of cuts, the first of which will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 23 when rosters are cut from 85 to 80 players. Tennessee’s final roster cut (80 to 53) will be on Tuesday, Aug. 30.
