Colin Cowherd believes that the New York Jets could still be a playoff contender if they ditch Zach Wilson and make a trade for one veteran in particular.
On Thursday’s edition of The Herd, Cowherd made the case that the Jets should try to swing a trade for Tennessee Titans starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill. He said that Tannehill would be a significant upgrade over free agent Carson Wentz or Kirk Cousins.
Cowherd believes that between Tannehill’s physical toughness and ability to play well with bad offensive lines, Tannehill would be an ideal replacement for Wilson so long as the Jets are willing to make a trade for him.
“Carson Wentz? He’s just a bigger version of Zach Wilson. Tannehill is different,” Cowherd explained.

Ryan Tannehill has completed 59-percent of his passes for 548 yards and one touchdown with three interceptions so far this season. He’s also been sacked on 13.5-percent of his dropbacks.
While Tannehill might be an upgrade over Zach Wilson, his current form suggests that he’s far closer to the end of his career than his prime. That’d be a tough sell for a Jets front office that already seems committed to Wilson come hell or high water.
Is it a move the Jets should make?
