Will we hear from the Titans owner today?
One night during Christmas break my 13-year-old was telling me about a friend of his named Carmen. I asked him if anyone ever asks here where in the world she is. He looked really confused. IFYKYK
Anyway, as of 8:41 on Tuesday, January 7th, we still have not heard anything from Tennessee Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk. She was reportedly at the game against the Houston Texans on Sunday, but according to Paul Kuharsky, she was not on the sideline before the game and left right after the game without stopping by the locker room. That is a departure from her normal game day procedure per PK. There was a caller on an afternoon show here locally yesterday who said the flight tracker had her plane going back to Houston, where AAS lives, Sunday night.
To be fair, we cannot be sure she was on that flight, but why would she not stay in town for the next couple of days and meet with Cally, Carthon, and Brinker face to face to talk about the season and let them know the status of their jobs?
Brian Callahan said at his end of the season press conference yesterday that he had not spoken to AAS since the season ended. Cally was asked about the job status of the guys running the front office, Chad Brinker and Ran Carthon, and said he hadn’t heard anything. Once again, AAS had someone in front of the media answering questions that she should be answering.
It is pretty crazy that we have not heard anything from her since the season ended. This season was already off the rails in October. There is no reason for her to not be sure yet what she wants to do. She owes it to the people who work for her, and the fans for that matter, to let them know what the plan is going forward.
There was a time when it looked like AAS was tracking towards being a really good owner. Heck, I even wrote back in 2022 that the rest of the AFC South was a disaster but the Titans weren’t because of AAS. The thought there was based on the idea of her making the right decision to fire Ken Whisenhunt mid-season, the decision to fire Ruston Webster, and the decision to fire Mike Mularkey even after changing the culture of the team and winning a playoff game. It was obvious this team had reached it’s ceiling with Mularkey at the helm.
Since then, she has basically gone underground. She didn’t talk after she fired Jon Robinson mid-season. She never took questions after firing Mike Vrabel. The only interview she did about it was with team-controlled media.
It is time for her to step up and let everyone know what the plan is for this franchise going forward. It would be great if she would do a press conference, but at the very least she needs to release a statement letting everyone know who is coming back and who isn’t.
